Doobeez aka Abbas Kubaff was born and raised in Nairobi Kenya, the Haven of Musical Talent in East Africa. Abbas Kubaff started performing in Rap Battles at Club Florida 2000, Nairobi’s premier Night Club, then, on Moi Avenue in 1994. This was the beginning of serious Musical Business for ‘Mr Dobeez’, aka Abbas Kubaff as in 1995 he joined hands with Bamboo and formed the group, K- South. Good times were sniffing just round the corner as in 1996 he competed in the popular Carnivore Star Search and got first position in the second heat. This was a morale booster for Dobeez. During the same period of 1996 he recorded the Hit single, ‘Kiondo Gakwa’, featured in Zanaziki’s Album ‘Tamu Tamu’, as well as in diva Mercy Myra’s single, ‘Sitaki’ at the Samawati Studios, Nairobi.He also performed at the Tusker Beats of the Season Concert, 1996. In 1997 he won the Club Florida 2000 Rap Battle Contest and started recording the album ‘Nairoberry’, K- South’s first Album. He yet again featured in the Tusker Beats of the Season Concert, 1997 and was a curtain raiser for Superstar, ‘Coolio and the 40 Thieves’ Kenya Tour. This gave him an International touch of stage performance. In 1998 he released his first single from the album ‘Nairoberry’, ‘Tabia Mbaya’, and again did an International appearance, this time curtain raising for the ‘Lost Boyz’, Kenya Tour. 1999, saw Dobeez release ‘Nairoberry’, one of Kenya’s first Hip Hop Albums. In the same year he collaborated with the Group, Necessary Noize on their first album. He launched ‘Nairoberry’, in style, in a solo promotional party, dubbed, ‘K Day’, that attracted over 3,000 people. In comes the Millenium and Dobeez, embarks on a Kenyan Tour to promote ‘Nairoberry’, which proved very successful. In the same year he recorded K South’s sequel, ‘Nairobizm’. The year 2002, he goes on Tour to neighboring Tanzania, to promote his two Albums, ‘Nairoberry’ and ‘Nairobizm’. It was ‘On The Road’ again, touring Kenya extensively in 2003 and once again featuring in another great International Show, the ‘Maxi Priest’ Kenya Tour and also performing at the Safari Sevens Rugby Tournament, Nairobi. He wound up the year with the release of, ‘Nairobizm’. 2004 saw Dobeez, go International, with the launch of ‘Nairobizm’, at the world famous, Festival Mundial, in Tilburg, Holland, performing and EmCeeing in Night Clubs in Holland and Germany. After globe trotting in Holland and Germany, he returned to Kenya in 2005 and it was back to Studio Business, he started recording tracks for his Solo album, ‘Angabanga’, and in the same year performed at the Candy Shop Nairobi. In 2006 he released Singles and Videos for ‘Mo Faya’,& ‘2050’ with Chiwawa , Maleek, and Kerea, all of which are in rotation on MTV Base. He also released ‘Angabanga’ at Candy Shop 2 in Nairobi and toured cities and towns in Kenya. He was part of a charity performance, at the ‘Jaza Lorry Charity’ event to raise money for Relief Foods. ‘Angabanga’ become the fastest selling Hip Hop album in Kenya. He was winner of the ‘Sprite Urban Rap Award’ and was host and MC for the ‘Ja Rule’ Kenya Tour. In the same year he hosted and MCeed the Motorola Urban Massive Kenyan Tour. He also performed at the MTV Alert organised by MTV Base and was Nominated in ‘Five’ categories in the 2007 Chaguo La Teeniez Awards, Kenya. He is one of the ‘Five’ top Kenyan Artistes who recorded the single ‘Sina Noma’, that was sponsored by Motorola. In the year 2007 he started recording tracks for his second album, release yet to be scheduled, and has released his first single, ‘Chapaa’. He was one of the celebrity performers at the ‘CHAT’, Chaguo La Teeniez Awards, 2007 and walked away with the ‘Surprise Artiste of the Year’ Award. The stage is set and a lot is to come for this celebrated Artiste, Dobeez, aka Abbas Kubaff, a Talent on Stage as a performer, MC, or in the Studio belting out great hits.
